Frequently Asked Questions
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what has brought you to counselling, any concerns you have, and what you hope to gain from therapy. There is no pressure to share everything straight away—you are welcome to work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Absolutely. Many people feel anxious before their first appointment. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you've never spoken to someone outside your family or friends about your experiences. My aim is to provide a calm, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and supported.
Yes. Confidentiality is an essential part of counselling. There are, however, a small number of exceptions where I may have a legal or ethical duty to share information—for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, concerns regarding safeguarding, or where disclosure is required by law. Wherever possible, I would discuss this with you first.
Yes.Perimenopause can affect mood, anxiety, confidence, sleep, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Counselling provides a supportive space to explore these changes, understand what you're experiencing and develop practical strategies to cope. I also provide evidence-based psychological support specifically for women during perimenopause.
